Don’t miss anything from a memorable Imola weekend

The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship returned this weekend at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola, a circuit steeped in history and where, as expected, many new memories were made. All the teams worked extraordinarily hard during three weeks to bring their best to Italy: take a quick peek at their final preparations before going out on track!

Many of the twists and turns of Imola will automatically roll off the tongue of any motor racing enthusiast as if learnt by heart: Tamburello, Tosa, Variante Bassa… But have you ever wondered what it’s like to face these legendary bends on a Superbike? Grab your helmet and gloves, and jump on-board with Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) as the home hero reveals the track’s best hidden secrets!

On the Saturday, Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) put in a perfect display of pace and composure in the WorldSBK Race 1, flying out from the lights and taking his fourth win of the campaign. Catch the full highlights, including a wild comeback from Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) and the returns of Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia) and Leon Haslam (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing)!

It was a grueling race 2 on Sunday, with no shortage of passes, crashes and clashes! When the dust had settled, it was Jonathan Rea again at the top, confirming that Imola truly is the Land of the Doubles. But it was anything but easy for the reigning and defending champion, as Chaz Davies showed why he’s a perennial championship contender with an extraordinary display of defending riding. Watch the pair battle around the track.

The FIM Supersport World Championship was on fire at Imola, with Jules Cluzel (NRT) taking his second win of 2018 and leaving the top spot within touching distance for up to five different riders. Much of the attention was also focused off the track, as Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) got one more chance to shine. The Turkish legend ended his fifteen-year-long career with third place in the Superpole 2, before taking one last honorary lap on Sunday. Don’t miss the chance to celebrate Sofuoglu’s phenomenal career on social media with the hashtag #ThankYouKenan, and catch our tribute to the 5-time WorldSSP champion.

In the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship, we got a new leader in Ana Carrasco (DS Junior Team), who dominated at Imola to score her second WorldSSP300 win. There was chaos and excitement behind her, which can only truly be appreciated with the full Imola Race highlights!

With the rain drenching everybody on Saturday and leaving an unpredictable grid, the stage was set for an epic European Superstock 1000 Championship race at Imola. The riders didn’t disappoint, with wildcard Matteo Ferrari (Barni Racing Team) overcoming a stunning Roberto Tamburini (Berclaz Racing Team SA) revival to secure his maiden STK1000 win.
